Every year, people journey into deep Brooklyn to see arguably the best light displays in America.

The neighborhood Dyker Heights started its so-called "Dyker Lights" tradition back in the mid-1980s when resident Lucy Spata decided to go all out with her decorations.

Today, dozens of homes in the area participate, spending untold amounts of money to outfit their yards with nativity scenes, Santa statues, and hundreds of thousands of lights.

Dyker Heights is a residential neighborhood in deep Brooklyn.

It's best to reach the neighborhood by taxi, though you can also take the subway and walk 20 minutes or sign up to take a tour bus.

Since the mid-1980s, its residents have honored a holiday tradition they call "Dyker Lights."

The real action can be found between 10th and 12th Avenues between 81st and 86th Streets starting after Thanksgiving.
