It’s official: Anthony Bourdain’s massive food hall, Bourdain Market, will be located in Pier 57 (a.k.a. the SuperPier) at West 15th Street and the Hudson River.
The 100-vendor market will also feature “design inspiration from Blade Runner and the back alleys of Tokyo.”
According to Commercial Observer, "The chef is in negotiations for 100,000 square feet at the long-abandoned former shipping and passenger terminal at Pier 57, and the food hall will comprise nearly the entire retail portion at the 560,000-square-foot Pier 57…sources with knowledge of the deal said. Apparently the TV host is negotiating directly with the developers."
The Meatpacking District doesn’t seem like it would be Tony’s first choice in terms of neighborhood — but the gigantic space makes sense given that Bourdain and business partner Stephen Werther have plans for a farmers market, oyster bar, tapas bar, rooftop beer garden, and 100 vendors at the market, according to Eater.
The Bourdain-ified food-hall-on-steroids will cost between $20 million and $30 million to build, and will join the new Google office space in the Pier 57 site.
That’s pretty convenient for Google employees, who already have everything.
