The 15 highest-paying jobs in New York City, according to employees

new york cityIt's no secret that living in New York City can be costly.

As Business Insider's Jessica Mai points out, the median rent price in Manhattan is around $3,300, which makes it the second most expensive US city to live in, according to the March 2016 Elliman Report.

"In fact, only the top 17% of earners in The Big Apple can truly afford to live in a one-bedroom apartment in Manhattan," Mai writes. "And for buyers, things aren't much better."

Real estate website Zillow found the median price of homes listed in Manhattan to be about $1.93 million.

To afford all that and live comfortably, a lot of New Yorkers seek out high-paying professions.

To find those, Glassdoor recently sifted through its database of salary reports shared by New York City-based employees over the past year. Each job had to have at least 30 reviews to be considered for the list.

Here are the 15 highest-paying jobs in New York, according to employees who provided Glassdoor with salary data:

15. Physical therapist

Median base salary: $74,608

14. Systems administrator

Median base salary: $75,000

13. Business analyst
